Lieutenant-colonel Weddington, Leonard
Colonel Weddington was commander of the recently established Bellows Field Air Base. On the morning after the attack on Pearl Harbor he sent up an observation plane to inspect a curious object on the beach. It was, in fact, a midget submarine, I-24A, commanded by Ensign Kazuo Sakamaki (Sakamaki, Kazuo) who was captured.
