The destroyer-minesweeper Wasmuth had been moored in the mouth of Middle Loch, south of Pearl City. She put to sea and at 1023 logged the dropping of a depth charge with no result. As Ward also reported, sonar contracts had been made and at 0136 Wasmuth dropped another "ash can" and a large oil slick was seen 3.4 miles from Pearl Harbor entrance. Later that day, at 1634, Trever's log recorded transferring Lieutenant Commander Agnew aboard from Wasmuth, although how Agnew came to be on board is not noted.
