Saratoga

The aircraft carrier Saratoga was sister ship to Lexington and shared her specification. She was laid down by the New York S.B.Co. on 25 September 1920 and completed in November 1928. On 7 December she was on the American West Coast undergoing repairs. She served in the East Solomons in August 1942 where her aircraft helped save the carrier Enterprise, with Task Force 38 in November 1943 and at Iwo Jima where, on 20 February 1945, she sustained seven kamikaze strikes.
