Ralph Talbot

The destroyer Ralph Talbot was laid down at Boston Navy Yard on 28 October 1935 and completed on 23 September 1938. She was a sister ship to Bagley and Helm. Her displacement was 1,500 tons, length overall 342 feet and beam 35 feet. She carried four 5-inch, 38 caliber and some smaller guns and she had 16 21-inch torpedo tubes, probably later educed to eight. On 7 December she was anchored alongside her sister ship Patterson in East Loch. On 9 August 1942 she was damaged in action off Savo Island, north of Gaudalcanal in the Solomon Islands and she fought in the Battle of Kolombangara in July 1943.
