Opana, at the northern tip of Oahu, close to Kahuku Point, was the location of the radar installation manned on the morning of 7 December by Privates George Elliott (Elliott, George) and Joseph Lockhard (Lockhard, Joseph). They saw a curiously large echo on the screen and reported it, but the blip was mistaken for Major Truman Landon's (Landon, Truman) flight of B-17s instead of the approach of the First Attack Wave of the Japanese.
