Ensign McCloy, R. C.

The officer of the watch aboard the minesweeper Condor in the early morning of 7 December 1941 was Ensign McCloy. At 0342 hours he observed what he thought was the wake of a periscope. This sighting, possibly the first of the Pearl Harbor attack, was reported to the destroyer Ward at 0357 and the report passed on to higher command, but no general alert was given.
