Klatt, Sergeant Lowell

On the morning of 7 December at 0925 Schofield Barracks, the army installation north-west of Wheeler Field in the center of Oahu was attacked by Aichi D3A1 Vals. Lieutenant Stephen Saltzman (Saltzman, Stephen) and Sergeant Lowell Klatt rushed out with Browning Automatic Rifles and opened fire. One of the Vals pulled up to avoid power cables and both men fired, bringing the plane down.
